Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I am raising funds for Aspire, a remarkable charity dedicated to helping and supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries. This cause is incredibly important, as such injuries can affect anyone at any time.
Next year, on August 11th, 2026, I will be participating in a relay swim across the Channel with a team of five other inspiring swimmers known as "The Fearless Ferry Dodgers" My journey to this point has been transformative. I remember when I could barely swim a width without becoming breathless. Although I took my children swimming, I struggled with confidence and didn’t enjoy it as much as I wished.
At the age of 47, I decided to take swimming lessons. It was humbling to learn alongside children, but gradually, my skills improved. I ventured into heated outdoor pools and eventually embraced open water swimming in a wetsuit. Now, at the age of 64, I primarily swim in just my costume and have developed a deep love for the sea—the colours, the vastness, and its power fill me with awe.
Swimming in one of the busiest sea crossings filled with jellyfish is undoubtedly a significant challenge for me. However, it’s an adventure that inspires me to push my limits and encourages others to embark on their own swimming journeys.
I kindly ask you to sponsor me in this challenging endeavor by donating through JustGiving. Your support will not only help me reach my target of £2,000 but also contribute directly to Aspire's vital work. Donating is simple, fast, and secure—your details are safe with JustGiving; they will never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money goes directly to the charity—making it the most efficient way to support this important cause.
