Aspire Pandas

Raising money for Aspire

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Team Aspire Pandas are swimming the English Channel as a relay team; six wonderful swimmers and a reserve swimmer, Rachel Honey, Folly Golding, Helen Devlin, Jane Sawyer, Helen Towers, Sylvia Rolfe and Suzie Bennett (reserve), will swim the English Channel in August 2026 to raise money for Aspire who help people who are paralysed through spinal cord injury; supporting them from injury to independence.

We will swim without wetsuits in one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world in cold water, through jelly fish blooms, strong currents, tides, and possibly encountering seals, dolphins, sharks and all the wonders of the English Channel.

We’ve all got a personal reason for swimming the English Channel and a journey which has brought us together; please check out our individual Just Giving pages for our personal journeys which lead us to supporting Aspire.
