Football Protecting Children Online - with Football For Humanity

This fundraising campaign is to provide footballs to children in the Philippines to help them build friendships, promote teamwork and lead healthier lifestyles. Importantly, it is also to create a safe space for children to be able to learn and speak out about the dangers of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). OSAEC is a very real threat to children around the world, however the Philippines is considered a global hotspot where its children are disproportionately targeted and victimised.
- Every PHP300 / GBP5 / EUR5 / USD5.50 raised will provide 1 size-4 football in the Philippines. If you would like to donate locally in PHP, Football For Humanity are currently in the process of making that option available, so please stay tuned for an announcement.*
- Every 10 footballs is 1 Filipino community we can educate about OSAEC and how to protect their children online.
- Donations via this platform go directly from Just Giving to Football For Humanity. They use 90% of the funds towards the footballs, which are sourced locally in the Philippines, and the remaining 10% goes towards shipping them to communities nationwide.**
- While our initial target is to give 200 footballs spread across 20 communities, there is no limit to how many we can provide and how many we can help.
- This initial campaign will run up to and end on November 3rd, as we intend to distribute the footballs and establish new community partners in time for Christmas 2023. Give the gift of football this Christmas, whilst also protecting children online!

Finally, here is a previous Football For Humanity campaign involving the one and only Leo Messi!
In 2022 alone, half a million Filipino children, or roughly 1 in 100 children, were identified to have been trafficked to produce child sexual exploitation material (CSEM), according to estimates from a prevalence study by the International Justice Mission (IJM) and the University of Nottingham Rights Lab. In addition to this, the largest telecoms in the Philippines reported that billions of child sexual abuse material had been intercepted. However, perpetrators still find a way to sexually abuse and exploit children online.
Imagine this: a local trafficker sexually abuses a Filipino child while a foreign offender, typically from developed countries (such as the USA, Australia, Norway and the UK), watches the abuse happen in real-time through a video call, often undetected. The foreign offender will often dictate the level of abuse for more money. The child can be raped multiple times a day in unthinkable ways to fulfil the perverted desires of a paedophile. This abuse of children can last a decade until the child becomes an adult due to financial gains or blackmail. The psychological and physical trauma inflicted on the child is immeasurable and will remain a constant memory for the rest of their life. The child’s image and videos will be digitally used and shared for a lifetime, a nightmare that will never end.
Football For Humanity established a nationwide operation working on the front lines of the Philippines back in 2020. They use sport and play as a tactical, educational and preventive measure to safeguard children from harm while proactively disrupting creative attempts from perpetrators to interact with children.
Football For Humanity works with thousands of children, parents, guardians and community leaders while spreading awareness of child sex trafficking in collaboration with the government, law enforcement and the largest telecoms in the Philippines. Unfortunately, this heinous act is rapidly rising, with over a billion child sexual abuse images and videos intercepted last year. We need to continue reaching as many children as possible in the community so they are equipped to take immediate action.
In 2021, iNews featured Football for Humanity, highlighting the ‘Secret pandemic’ of child sexual abuse in the Philippines, where families exploit their own children for money.
Due to the rapid demand and expansion of the Stop Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children mission, we urgently need footballs. Your donation will go directly toward new footballs and new communities across the Philippines, to work towards leaving no child behind.
Together, let’s stop Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children.

We are a community-led group of passionate Philippine football fans dedicated to promoting the sport in the country. We are fervent supporters of our national teams, especially the Filipinas - the Philippines Women's National Football Team. Our aim is to build on their legacy of leading us to the nation's historical first-ever football World Cup appearance, at FIFA Women's World Cup 2023!
Girls are overwhelmingly the targets and victims of OSAEC accounting for 85% of cases. Help us give them childhoods filled with football and free of abuse, exploitation and trafficking.
