For 2026, the organisers of the Fred Hughes Memorial 10 have chosen Abbey View Community Athletics Track ('AVCAT', charity number 1207500) as their supported charity.

AVCAT was formed in April 2024 to take over operation of the St Albans Track, following pressure of closure from SADC.

Our aim is to ensure the long term future of athletics, keeping the track open for the health and wellbeing of the local population.

We're working to manage the track sustainably, and an intergral part of this is to provide a replacement of the condemned pavilion, to give changing facilities and community spaces to support the track users.
