Skydiving for My Little Brother: Supporting Huey’s Journey · 31 July 2025

Huey is 11 years old and has Autism. He is a bright and energetic young boy but due to his Autism has many struggles. Huey often get overwhelmed easily especially our in public. We are fundraising for an Autism assistance dog to support Huey.

Story

Hi, my name is Fred, and I’m an 18-year-old gap year student embarking on a life-changing journey around the world. As excited as I am about seeing new places and experiencing different cultures, part of my heart will always be at home with my amazing 11-year-old brother, Huey.

Huey is autistic, and he’s one of the most incredible people I know. Life can be challenging for him in ways many people don’t see, and one of the ways we’ve learned we can help is by providing him with an autism assistance dog. These specially trained dogs offer life-changing support: helping to calm anxiety, providing emotional grounding during sensory overload, and being a loyal companion in an often-overwhelming world.

The only problem? Assistance dogs aren’t cheap. That’s why I’m taking on the biggest challenge of my life—a charity skydive—to raise funds to help pay for my brother’s autism dog and the training it needs to support him.

Jumping out of a plane at 12,000 feet might sound terrifying (it is!), but compared to the challenges my brother faces every day, it’s nothing. He inspires me with his bravery despite adversity, his resilience, and his unique way of seeing the world, and I want to do this for him. Therefore, I hope to raise 10p for every foot I fall!

Last time we saw each other, he was waving me off at the airport as I left to go on my travels. This is one small way I can support his journey, despite being so far away.

For me, this isn’t just about raising money—it’s about giving Huey the gift of greater independence, comfort, and companionship. The total cost for an autism assistance dog and its training is around £12,100, and every single donation will bring us closer to making this dream a reality.

No matter how big or small your contribution, it will mean the world to me, my family, and most of all, to Huey. If you’re unable to donate, even sharing this page with others would make a huge difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you in advance for your support. Together, we can make a real difference for Huey and others like him.

Let’s take this leap together—for Huey, for autism awareness, and for brighter futures.

With gratitude,

Fred
