Team FRESH does the three peaks!

FRESH Hikers is raising money for Liverpool CHICS

Team: Team fundraising for Liverpool CHICS - Wes' Supersonic Fun Day

In memory of Wes Greenhalgh

The three Yorkshire peaks · 27 June 2026

Liverpool Chics helps to support the whole family of a child diagnosed with cancer, from diagnosis for as long as we are needed. Our Family Support worker is based at Alder Hey. We offer various events, theatre trips, parties etc to ensure all our families experience as much fun time as possible.

Story

Over the depths of winter a small group of team FRESH got together with a view to climb not one or two mountains in a day but three! As time went by with persuasion the group expanded and now 13 of us are coming together and have committed to doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This is a 24-mile (38.6km) circular route with 1,585m of ascent, taking in the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

For some of the group this will be a literal walk in the park for others it will rival climbing Everest! However, Ashley H, Ash T, Camilla, Claire B, Clare S, Debbie, Fiona, Kayley, Leigh Anne, Liam R, Nigel, Rachel B, Rachel W are committed and have started training with more adventures to come before the big day finally arrives on the 27th June.

To spur us on, on this marathon adventure we wanted to try and do some good along the way. Which is where this pages comes into play as the hike happened to coincide by being the day before Wes’s Supersonic fun day! Some of us had the pleasure of knowing and loving Wes, others know of Wes through his wife Amy, and his work in our sister service. His memory lives on and this felt like a natural way of honouring Wes and his loved ones.

The Rainford Ladies Football club are organising a truly unforgettable community fun day on Sunday 28th June from 12–4pm at the Junction Pub, Rainford. It will be a vibrant celebration filled with joy, connection, and togetherness, the kind of day Wes would have embraced wholeheartedly.

All funds raised will go to Liverpool CHICS (Children’s Cancer Support), a charity that supports a child and their family from the moment of diagnosis for as long as they need it. Their work includes providing practical advice and guidance, running support groups, and organising activities, day trips, and events that offer families precious moments of joy during incredibly difficult times. The charity was founded in 1986 by parents whose children were treated at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, and it is run by people who have lived through the experience of having a child with cancer. Liverpool CHICS relies heavily on community fundraising, and we want this event to make a meaningful difference.
