Gabby & Christina’s TCS London Marathon for GOSH

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Firstly thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are both running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025 for Great Ormand Street Hospital (GOSH). This amazing charity is one of the top children’s hospitals in the world, who stop at nothing to help give seriously il
l children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because no childhood should be lost to illness. GOSH holds a very special place in both our hearts because without GOSH our super hero nephew Oscar would not be with us today.
Our nephew Oscar was diagnosed with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot which meant he had to have open heart surgery at the age of just 7 months old at GOSH. We cannot comprehend what our sister and brother in law went through waiting 6 hours whilst Oscar was in surgery. Surgery that was expected to last four hours but, due to a few complications, it ended up lasting six. Before surgery Oscar had a number of cyanotic spells and my sister and brother in law could see the change in him as his heart grew weaker. He was cold to the touch, and his hands were turning blue, he now needed his surgery. You can see without this amazing charity and Oscar’s lifesaving surgery, he would have certainly deteriorated very quickly.
Oscar is still under the care of GOSH with regular appointments where they monitor his condition and we all hope he doesn’t need to have anymore operations.
My family are so grateful for the support from GOSH giving our cheeky Nephew Oscar a healthy and normal life. We are forever is debt with GOSH so we wanted to try and give back where we can.
As you probably know we have very different loves for running and our stories up to this marathon are polar opposites.
Gabby’s Story
Running the London Marathon has always been on my bucket list. I am not a runner at all and have never done any sort of race let alone run a marathon. My sister has always pestered me to run a Parkrun or 10K race but I’ve always been put off as I don’t enjoy it. Before starting training for the London Marathon the furthest I’ve run is 5k and even then I had stop to walk. So as you can imagine running a marathon is a big deal and huge challenge to me. So any donation big or small will give me that motivation to keep going, knowing I am raising money towards GOSH for research, facilities and supporting families like mine.
Christina’s Story
This will be my 3rd London Marathon despite saying after my first I would next run one again. The last time I run a marathon was 10 years ago in 2015. But here I am 10 years older some would say wiser but clearly NOT and now a Mummy to two beautiful children. As many of you know my last London Marathon was for Victims Support and in memory of my Nan who we lost in a traumatic way. 2015 I was going through my own journey and used running to help me (literally get me out the door as this became something I struggle with). Looking back I was still grieving and mentally struggling. But that saying ‘time is a healer’ is very true. Here I am giving myself a new challenge. I was in no doubt I wanted to raise money for GOSH as without them my nephew would not be here today. Unlike my sister I love running but I am a lot older and my body is much more temperamental. I would love to run for a time but this all depends on injuries. But ultimately I just want to cross that line for GOSH and to make my family proud.
We hope you can all come down and support both of us around the roads of London running 26.2 miles.
By sponsoring us you’ll be ensuring that GOSH can continue to offer hope to very sick children and their families.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and can make a big difference.
We cannot thank you enough for your support.
Lots of love
