Story
With my 50th Birthday around the corner I've decided to take some time away from work and to go on an adventure and raise some money for Children With Cancer UK.
Having previously Skateboarded 20 miles for a cancer charity I decided I should push myself a bit further.
I am in the process of plotting a route from John O' Groats to Lands End down the less used roads.
I expect this to be in the region of 1000 miles and take about 6 weeks to complete.
I will be travelling alone with a rucksack, a tent and sleeping bag and stopping for the night wherever I end up that day.
Having only ever covered 60 miles over 3 days before I know this is going to be a massive challenge.
My own sense of adventure will get me to the start and the knowledge that I am helping in some small way to those touched by this awful ilness will hopefully push me to the finish.
I start the challenge on May 18th 2023 in John O' Groats and if it all goes to plan finish 6 weeks later at Lands End.
Any donations are much appreciated and any help to share this challenge with others would also be a great help.
Many thanks Gary
For 35 years, Children with Cancer UK has funded much needed research into the causes of childhood cancers, and the development of better, kinder treatments.
Our work has contributed significantly to a marked increase in childhood cancer survival rates and improved quality of life for patients. Since 1988, we have increased awareness and understanding of childhood cancers within the scientific community and among the general public.
We provide funding for initiatives that support children and their families through cancer treatment.
