Gavin's fundraiser for Stroke Association

Gavin Marr is raising money for Stroke Association

Team: Broughton to the Roof of Africa - Airbus Kilimanjaro Challenge

Killimanjaro

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

This July, I will begin a relentless multi-day trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s going to be the toughest physical challenge of my life, but it pales in comparison to the challenges faced by stroke survivors and their families. I am funding the entire trip myself, ensuring 100% of your donations go directly to charity.

This cause hits incredibly close to home. I am climbing to honor my Grandad, who lived with the severe aftermath of a stroke for four difficult years before he passed away. I am also climbing for our dear family friend, Tommy, who we tragically lost after his own tough, over three-year battle following a stroke.

While we lost Grandad and Tommy, we have also seen incredible hope in our family. My Dad and Uncle Steve suffered a stroke and thankfully made a recovery.

Stroke strikes in an instant, changing lives forever. I want to ensure the Stroke Association has the resources to help more people like my Dad and Uncle Steve make it back to their families, and to support those fighting the kind of battles Tommy and my Grandad fought.

Every step I take up Africa’s highest peak is driven by their stories. Please support my journey to the summit and donate what you can.

Thank you so much.
