Story
Thank you for sponsoring me. The money I raise for taking part in this utterly bonkers swim challenge of 10km will go direct to the charity Level Water. You will be helping to improve the lives of children with disabilities via the power of swimming. Level Water are working hard to ensure that access to swimming is universal, as it should be!
I am not 100% sure i will make it to the end of this swim!! I intend to but it will be a challenge for me I am sure. I am just about to head into this years (I write this 24/03/26) open water swimming season and the pool training hasnt been as smooth sailing as I would have liked with a pause in training to recuperate from some pneumonia issues from inhaling fluff! Then there is the ongoing issue of not being able to actually train in the pool due to the pool times/lanes/other people using it etc which has all been a massive learning curve and headache. I have been so consistent in my training and I work hard but I still find swimming the hardest sport I have ever done and one that I don't seem to be getting any faster at. However, I am taking on this 10km swim because it will be hard, it will be a mental and physical challenge especially since it is in the sea and my comfort zone is lake swimming. So, if you can donate £1 or a few pounds that would be amazing and thank you.
The first splash. The holding your breath. The echoes of laughter. The wet hair. The lifted spirits. The joy of gliding through water. The smile that lasts all day.
Swimming is like nothing else. The skills you develop, the confidence you build and the joys you feel are all universal. Yet access to swimming in the UK is not.
At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities.
Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.
