I’m running to raise vital funds for my chosen charity, Ronald McDonald House Charities, who provide free, temporary “home-away-from-home” accommodation for families with a child receiving hospital treatment, often for serious and life-threatening illnesses.

These Houses give families a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment just minutes from the hospital. With private rooms, kitchens, and communal spaces, they allow families to stay close to their child, avoid long-distance travel costs, and maintain a sense of normality during the most difficult times of their lives.

This cause is very personal to me. In 2013, I suffered from a life threatening illness and was cared for in Manchester Children’s Hospital. During this time, Ronald McDonald House supported my family by offering accommodation close to the hospital, giving them the comfort and reassurance of being nearby. Their support meant that my family could focus on being there for me, without the added worry of travel and expenses. Now, it’s my turn to give back to those who cared for me and my loved ones.

I am raising money to help ensure that more families get the same incredible support mine did. Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent charity and relies entirely on the generosity of volunteers, fundraisers, and donors to keep families close to their sick children each year.

Every donation—no matter the size—makes a real difference. It could mean a warm meal after a long day at the hospital, a bed for a worried parent just steps away from their child, or a safe and supportive place for families to face these challenges together.
