Story
First of all, I absolutely love scouting. Ever since that first Beavers session back in 2016, I have really loved meeting new people, experiencing new things and making a difference. Scouting has already helped me grow as a a person in terms of confidence, social skills and though experiencing new things, such as my recent opportunity to debate in the Senedd through the Scouts Cymru Youth Parliament.
As my scouting journey progressed, I had the privilege of being accepted as part of the UK Contingent to the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland. This event is more than just a big camp. This is an opportunity to form strong international bonds and promote international cooperation, at a time when this is needed more than ever. This will help form incredibly strong friendships across borders. The Jamboree also gives an opportunity to promote Welsh Culture to over 10,000 scouts from all around the world.
The Jamboree is also a huge help for so many in terms of confidence growth. As part of our fundraising efforts as a District, we will be climbing the equivalent height of Mount Everest on a Climbing Wall. I am also going to take part in the Caerphilly 10k in order to set a challenge for myself. The Jamboree will help more than just those going, it allows for more opportunities for Scouts locally, who'd benefit through new, strong international connections.
I really hope you consider supporting this mission. This money isn't just going to me, it's going to Scouts across the Rhymney Valley in South Wales, supporting six local scouts from a wide range of backgrounds gain an experience that will benefit them for life. Any contribution, no matter how small, will directly contribute to this effort. Many thanks!
