Story
I'm back again...but this time we've doubled the distance!
Following on from London to Paris in 2022 where we raised money for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), I wanted to get involved in a bigger cycle challenge! Together with Discover Adventure, we have created a challenge where we will be cycling over 1000km in just 6 days, from Berlin to London in July 2026.
I wanted to create this challenge in memory of my dad, Mike, who died of metastatic bowel cancer in January 2022, aged 59. But also the aim is to raise vital funds and awareness for great causes, whilst creating an opportunity for people to support charities that have already helped many navigate through tough times.
The MJS Berlin to London cycle will take us west through Germany and across The Netherlands, then by ferry to the UK before cycling on to London. Passing through rural countryside, small towns and villages, there are always new sights to enjoy and motivate us to keep turning the pedals. We’ll be averaging about 100 miles a day to raise vital funds for The Institute of Cancer Research, London (ICR).
The ICR is one of the world's most influential cancer research institutes. Their 800-strong body of scientists and clinicians based in laboratories in Chelsea and Sutton are working on a broad spectrum of research, from understanding the underlying biological causes of cancer through to designing and testing the latest cutting-edge therapies.
They couldn’t have come this far without the support of donors and fundraisers, who have helped fund their ground-breaking work.
Help us reach the finishing line. Together, we can finish cancer.
