Story
Hi Everyone, I've just signed up to the Manchester Marathon and would like to give a bit of background as to the story behind me raising money for the chosen charity.
One of my best/oldest friends Ollie got Ecoli when he was 2 damaging both of his Kidneys however went on to live a normal life with 40% function until 2021 when he was 23 it reduced to 17% and then down to a further 7% in 2023. This resulted into having a Kidney Transplant which luckily his Dad Peter was able to donate to him. It has now been 18 Months since the operation and both are doing really well now with a functionality 70% each.
The British Transplant Games aim is to raise awareness of the need for organ donation, encourage transplant recipients to lead active lifestyles and show appreciation for, and remember, donors and their families.
The Transplant Games are an annual sporting event celebrating transplant patients and donor families.
The team is an inspiring group of adults and children who have been the recipients of organ transplantation.
Thanks
George
