Story

Northamptonshire Search and Rescue (NSAR) are a group of trained volunteers who are on call 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. The team today is extremely well trained and equipped. They regularly assist Northamptonshire Police and other statutory emergency services.

They are mainly called out to assist in the search for vulnerable missing people across the counties 760 square miles (2,364 square kilometres) of Northamptonshire. The County has a combination of flood plains, forests, fields, Country Parks, rivers and lakes, for which the team train to deal with and work in or around. The County has a population of around 733,000, an increase of approx. 6% since 2011.

The Team has 3 vehicles:

- A brand new, state of the art Incident Control Unit which is based in Northampton.

- A 4x4 pickup truck which is based in Wellingborough.

- A 4x4 Sprinter based in Wellingborough too.

They are made up entirely of volunteers and rely solely on fundraising and donations to be able to continue.
