Scotland to Birmingham 350 Miles Sikh Helpline Pro Bike Ride 2025

SHL Pro Bike Ride Scots to Brum 350 Miles 2025 · 31 July 2025 to 3 August 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
My name is Giani Sukha Singh, and this year I’m taking on one of the biggest challenges of my life cycling all the way from Edinburgh to Birmingham, covering over 350 miles and climbing more than 17,000 feet all in support of the Sikh Helpline.
The Sikh Helpline is a registered UK charity, recognised by the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the High Sheriff Award, and the Sikh Award for its unwavering commitment to helping people in crisis. The helpline supports individuals and families facing mental health challenges, substance abuse, domestic violence, discrimination, suicidal thoughts, and more.
In 2023, the Sikh Helpline handled over 4,000 calls. In 2024, that number has already risen to more than 5,000. These aren’t just numbers, these are lives.
Let me share a few real stories that show the impact your support can make:
- A mother and her young son were trapped in a cycle of domestic violence and depression. The trauma had driven them both to the edge, and they saw no way out. With the support of the Sikh Helpline, the boy returned to school, and the mother regained her strength and started working again. Today, they’re rebuilding their lives, and they often express how grateful they are that someone answered their call.
- Another woman stood on a balcony, ready to end her life. In a moment of despair, she called the Sikh Helpline. Our team acted quickly contacting the NHS and emergency services, who reached her in time. She later told us, “If I hadn’t made that call, I wouldn’t be here today.”
- More recently, an 18-year-old girl reached out to the Sikh Helpline. She had been struggling with alcohol addiction since the age of 13. For years, she lived in fear and shame, too afraid to ask for help or speak to anyone about her situation. When she finally made the call, a trained support worker listened with compassion and understanding. With the right guidance, she was able to begin a home detox programme, and slowly broke free from her addiction. Though she still carries some shame over her past, today she is deeply grateful not just for the recovery, but for having someone who cared, someone who listened without judgement, when she needed it most
We receive so many calls related to alcohol and drug abuse, mental health struggles, suicidal thoughts, and grooming. Every single call matters. And every single life matters.
This is why I’m doing this ride. Not just for the challenge — but for the people who feel like they have no one left to turn to.
🙏 I humbly ask for your support, whether by donating, sharing this message, or simply raising awareness of the Sikh Helpline’s work.
