Since 2022, I’ve been raising money for 'Children in Need' —because I know what it means to be lucky, and I want to help children who aren’t.
When I was nearly six, my mum went into hospital to have her appendix out. But things went wrong. She had a series of strokes and was in a coma for five days. She stayed seriously ill in hospital for three months. It was a scary time—but my family looked after me, and I was lucky.
A few years later, I was at a friend’s house and met a small child being fostered in an emergency. He was going through something similar to what I’d been through. That’s when I realised just how lucky I’d been—and I decided I wanted to help children who didn’t have the same support.
So, at age 10, I set myself a challenge: to walk up The Sugarloaf Mountain in the Brecon Beacons every day for five days. It was hard going—but brilliant!
The next year, I took on a 12-month charity challenge, pushing myself to do all kinds of things:
- Climbing 210 feet up a cliff and abseiling down
- Baking Christmas cakes for 50 elderly people
- Running a 5K
- Singing to 5,000 rugby fans on match night
- and many more!
Each challenge was tough in its own way—but every moment reminded me why I was doing it: to raise money for children who need help, hope, and care.
This year, I’ve set myself a new challenge: to write, compose, arrange, and record a Christmas song. I love music—it brings me joy. I hope my song will bring joy to others as well.
I recorded Give a Little Christmas at New Junction Music Studio in Abergavenny, with the amazing support of Matt Watkins, my music producer, and Jim Ramsay, a brilliant Welsh musician who played the backing guitar. They both donated their time and expertise to help bring this song to life—and I’m so grateful.
Every penny raised from this campaign will go to Children in Need, helping children and families across the UK who need it most.
“Give a little Christmas, let your kindness shine,
It’s not just the season — it’s love in the rhyme.”
Please:
- Donate what you can
- Watch and share the music video
- Help me spread the word
Thank you for supporting my music and this cause. Let’s make this Christmas brighter for children and families who need it most.
With love and music,
Dante
