Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

As part of the GOAT boys mentoring programme a group of mentors and mentees are hoping to raise £7k to complete a 7-kilometre hike of Snowdon-which they are calling 7k for 7k.

The GOAT Boys campaign (Greatest of All the Boys) was launched at the end of 2025 by Chris Edwards headteacher of Brighton hill community school in Basingstoke enlisting the help of men in the community to mentor boys identified as needing ‘strong male role models.

The 7k for 7k group project is fundraising for, Prostate Cancer UK is a prostate cancer research, awareness and support charity. This is a cause close to the heart of one of our mentees

As part of the fundraising efforts the group have opened opportunities for a headline sponsor of the hike and a small number of secondary sponsors who will be given visibility across the project materials and digital content.

The group contains mentors from Basingstoke town football club, AXA and Queen Marys college in Basingstoke, and mentees Jacob and Raphael who recently shared their stories and motivations as part of a short video feature on Sky news which you can see here:
