The Child Growth Foundation makes a difference wherever growth is a concern. We are a UK charity focusing on the support, understanding and management of rare growth conditions to improve the lives of children, young people, adults and families affected.

Story

Liam hasn't even run for a bus since entering his 40s - or his late 30s! Now he has 3 months to prepare for 13.1 miles on Sunday 12th October 2025.

So why is his digging out his dusty running shoes? It's to raise funds for the Child Growth Foundation. Our family are members of this great charity that aims to raise public awareness of growth disorders and provide support to kids like Ophelia and Hugo who have been diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) and will need daily injections until they finish puberty.

A lack of growth hormone doesn't just affect height. It also affects how bones, muscles and organs develop, so its crucial for it to be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. Unfortunately it often gets missed, especially with girls. My own lack of height may well have been due to GHD too.

This year Ophelia and Hugo have really benefitted from meeting children across the country who also have to suffer daily injections. They even took part in a special trip to Legoland with other members of the charity. As parents, its a relief too to see the positive impact that medication has had on older members, something we remind ourselves of when having the daily battle to do the injections before bed.

Hugo started Omnitrope on 25th November 2024 and has already grown 10cm, boosting him from the 2nd centile to 25th, and Ophelia has grown 6cm since March 2025. More importantly both kids have so much more energy than they used to have.

Please help us to support the charity by sponsoring Liam. He needs all the help he can get!
