Story
In the month of July, the Ground Control Southern Operations Team will be undertaking a fundraising drive to support our ‘Charity of the Year’, the RNLI, in memory of our colleague Simon Wiggins who sadly passed away last year. Simon personally chose the RNLI as he enjoyed many holidays with his boys down at the beach and the RNLI do an amazing job keeping our coasts safe, powered by dedicated volunteers.
The team made up of Mike Mitchell, Sam Grundy, Adam Lee, Ben Goodgroves, Dan Harrison, Henry Winchester, Jack Andrews, Jack Terry, James Bradley, Ryan Blyde, Stewart McDonald and Marc Miles will be undertaking the following fundraising events throughout the month of July including…
- The entire team will be taking part in an 11 mile walk between Lulworth Cove and Weymouth RNLI stations on 8th July
- Mike Mitchell is going to put himself under pressure on the 19th July and do a bungee jump in Battersea (and he's scared of heights!)
- There will be a team swimming challenge on Friday 25th July (am) where the team are swimming 708 lengths between them, one for every mile of coastline in the region we manage. That’s 708 miles of coast protected by the RNLI, and we’re diving in to honour every single one:

- Followed by a GC Southern Olympics on Friday 25th July (pm)
- The team will be hosting a raffle
- Wrapping up with a final day of celebrations at GCHQ on 30th July to finish Ground Control's support of the RNLI across the last year
Any amount you can donate to our fundraiser would be greatly appreciated and Ground Control will be £4£ matching donations which will go directly to the RNLI.
Thank you so much for your support
From everyone in the Southern Operations Team at Ground Control
