Please help pay Guinness's Vet Bills!

Angela C is raising money for Oldies Club
We launch our Summer Appeal today with the aim of raising enough money to ensure that we can continue taking in older dogs. We really don't want to have to turn away older dogs in need for financial reasons.

Story

Hello! I'm Guinness. A rather lovely Staffie, so I’ve been told. I’ve had some help writing this. I’m scheduled to have some important surgery today. Could you make a donation to help towards my vet bills, pretty please? Oldies Club is worried about how much more money has been going out each month than coming in. It promises to always look after the dogs in its care, but it can only do that with your help.

I came into the care of Oldies Club, a small, volunteer-run charity that rescues and rehomes older dogs in the UK, when my family were emigrating and I wasn’t able to go with them :-( I am currently being cared for in a wonderful Oldies Club foster home - my foster mum says I have the loveliest, sweetest, funniest character.

I have been diagnosed with mast cell cancer and my vet wants to remove two tumours and for me to have a dental. I was previously booked for surgery, but pre-op blood tests revealed concerns about my liver. Thankfully, an ultrasound and liver test showed my liver was functioning normally. However, after another vet check it was suggested that I be tested for Cushings! I tested positive for this, was placed on medication and had to be monitored to see how my body responded, before the surgery for my lump removal could take place.

After some meds adjustments, the vet advised that my surgery could go ahead, so I am scheduled for this to take place today!

Oldies Club has already spent almost £3,000 on my vet bills, which is a lot of money in itself, but the charity also has many other dogs in its care to pay for too. If you could make a donation to this fundraising appeal today, to help Oldies Club cover my ongoing vet costs, it would really be appreciated. The page will be updated once the additional cost of today's surgery and any aftercare is known.

Despite all of these health concerns, I have been enjoying life in my foster home. These days, I get to snuggle up on the sofa with my foster mum and I get to sleep on the bed at night too. I make new friends wherever I go - everyone who meets me falls in love with me! I love to play with a tennis ball and really enjoy it when my foster mum takes me to a local secure field. I can't wait to recover from my surgery and get back to having fun!

Please donate what you can today. It would be so gratefully received. We will update you once I have had the surgery.

Thank you very much.

Love, Guinness x

Should Oldies Club supporters be generous enough to donate more than is needed for my vet bills/care, any excess money will be directed to the charity’s general fund and used to help other older dogs in its care.
