Ehlers-Danlos Support UK improves quality of life for people living with the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS). We work across the UK to support, advise and inform those living with the condition and the medical professionals working with them.

Story

Back in May I stupidly agreed with my colleague (and once friend!!!) Nikki Casey, that if she raised over £1000 for The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK during May Awareness, I would jump out of plane. I thought this may encourage her to get sponsored to do a walk, ride a bike or do something else that would challenge her, but no....instead she announced to the EDS UK community how happy it would make her if she could push me out of plane!!!

Thank you to everyone who generously donated and it is now time for me to keep to my end of the deal. She will not be allowed to push me out but on Friday 13th September I will be doing a tandem skydive.

As I am jumping on Friday 13th, the target has been set at £1313 and every person who donates £13 or more will have their name written on the charity T-Shirt I will be wearing. Nikki is going to have to write all the names on, so the more we have the better!!! If you would not like your name on the T-Shirt please mention in the donation comments or make an anonymous donation.

All money raised will go to The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK (EDS UK), a small UK charity that I have the privilege to work for. They support anybody affected by The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) or hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD).

Both conditions are life long chronic illnesses which often lead to people living with persistent widespread pain, frequent joint dislocations, gastrointestinal issues and many other symptoms. For years, people with the most common type of EDS or HSD have been neglected by the NHS, with many people going undiagnosed and inadequate management provided.

EDS UK provides vital support to people affected by EDS or HSD, engages with members of local and national public policy communities to stimulate actions beneficial to the EDS community and guided by their specialist Medical Advisory Panel, they work to fund appropriate, targeted and timely research projects. You can find out more about the conditions and the charity at www.ehlers-danlos.org.
