Hackett's February Team Movement Challenge

Challenge yourself and challenge homelessness in 2024 by taking part in one of our events. Or organise your own. Whatever you do, know your fundraising is helping to bring positive change to the life of someone experiencing homelessness today.

Story

I am pleased to announce that our next fundraiser for Turning Tides will begin and run through-out the month of February in the form of our Team Movement Challenge! 🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️

The aim of the Team Movement Challenge is to encourage all of Hackett Europe to get up and moving, compete against fellow work teams whilst also raising money for charity 😊🌊

All teams within Hackett Europe are invited and we would love to see participants from each of Adv, BM, Trans-GBS, Trans-Proc, Trans-EPM, Trans-BPO, Sales-DACH, Sales-UK / THI, and Business Support (Finance and HR)!

Movement Challenge details:

🤸‍♀️ Throughout the month of February, colleagues who log and submit exercise done outside of their usual day-to-day movement* will be given points, which will be assigned to them and their work team.

*i.e. walking around your home wouldn’t count towards this.

🤸‍♀️ Each type of exercise will have a different scoring relative to the time and effort required to complete that movement (please see table in additional pictures for this page)

🤸‍♀️ Colleagues will also be rewarded for working out with other colleagues, with bonus points added to their exercise.

🤸‍♀️ Once the month is up, totals will be calculated, and results will be announced.

✉️ To submit your exercise, please send your list of activities by email to your designated team captain using the attached Excel sheet as a template. I have partially filled in the attached template as an example.

✉️ If you are unsure of who your team’s designated captain is, you can find this information in the additional pictures for this page.

✉️ If everyone could send their exercise weekly or for the month to their team captains, that would be most preferable! If you send this in weekly to them, it will also mean that your exercise will be reported weekly 😊

✉️ Note: For points to be counted, each individual will need to submit a donation of £10+ on the JustGiving page (https://www.justgiving.com/page/hackett-february-movement-challenge) for Turning Tides 🌊

✉️ People are, of course, encouraged to donate more than £10 if they would like to! Hackett will match your collective donations, up to £1,000 – so get donating!

Updates will be given each week of the challenge and the following prizes will be awarded at the end of the month / at the next All Hands:

🏆 Individual with the most points – A trophy of achievement!

🏆 Work team with the most points (averaged by each participant in that team) – A bar tab for your team to enjoy! This will be an amount per person entered on your team, so get lots of people involved and get a big bar tab!!

🏆 Winner of a lucky draw from those participants who scored at least 6 points (e.g. walk 1.5km / 1 mile) on at least 15 days out of the possible 29 days – A £50 Amazon voucher!

And that’s pretty much it! All money will go towards Turning Tides so please get involved if you can!

Also, big shoutout to @Harry Chapman for setting up our very own Hackett Strava page! >> https://www.strava.com/clubs/thehackettgroup

By using this free fitness application, it’ll be much easier for us to create a supportive community, fostering motivation and connections with each other.

Therefore, we highly recommend all of Hackett to sign-up! Let's stay active and connected! 🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Turning Tides is the largest provider of support for homeless men and women in West Sussex. For over 28 years, the charity has continued to grow and develop a wide range of services to meet the individual needs of those accessing their support.

Recently, Turning Tides have seen a 100% increase in homelessness locally, and their community hubs are seeing about 70 people a day to each of them but shockingly a huge proportion of those people are in work. They are currently running at a deficit for the next 18 months at least so covering the costs of running these community hubs is the goal. They cost £1000 a day to run, which includes the practical things such as breakfast, shower, laundry, storeroom of clean clothes, food bank etc. and the groups such as AA, counselling, art therapy, digital inclusion and staff such as the housing advice and health teams.

Turning Tides believe that everyone has the right to a home and supports people at every stage in their journey out of homelessness. The charity brings together compassionate individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to transform the lives of people in the local community.
