We are walking Hadrian's Wall: 135km from East to West from 10th May to 15th May 2026.

We are raising money for Services For Education, a charity which supports the provision of quality musical ensembles for the young people of Birmingham. Nathan is an alumni of the Birmingham music service ensembles and Oli is a trustee of SFE, and as such we both have a passion for seeing these ensembles flourish. We both now play in the Langley Band and know the power of performing in an ensemble!

Every year as part of their work, SFE brings together nearly 4,000 young musicians from across Birmingham, to form 113 free ensembles that are specifically designed to cater for all genres and abilities. Being part of one of our Ensembles is free for our young musicians, removing the cost barrier for many of them, but it costs SFE up to £400 a year for each Ensemble placement.

These amazing young musicians are nurtured and supported by the skilled professional SFE tutors and conductors, developing their confidence and musical abilities, as they work towards the most memorable performances on the stages of Birmingham’s most prestigious venues. Your support will help this great work to continue and enable opportunities for more children to perform on an ensemble.
