Story
This April, I’ll be lacing up my trainers and taking on the 2026 London Marathon for Balloons —26.2 miles of sweat, determination, and heart in memory of my dearly missed brother, Matthew.
I’m not just running for the challenge. I’m running for Balloons, a small charity doing extraordinary work right here in Devon.
Balloons supports children and young people who are grieving the death of someone they love. Whether it’s a parent, sibling, or close friend, bereavement can be life-shattering—and Balloons is there to help.
They offer one-to-one support, creative therapies, and a safe space for young people to talk, cry, laugh, and heal. Their work is deeply personal, incredibly moving, and absolutely vital - you can find out more at www.balloonscharity.co.uk
When I lost my brother Matthew in 2009, I was luckily enough to benefit from their support. Together with my parents we spent a day with them in Exeter, meeting others who were dealing with the grief of losing a loved one. I also spent some time with them when they came to visit me in Primary School.
Every pound I raise will help Balloons reach more families in crisis. It will fund volunteer training, provide memory boxes and therapeutic resources, and ensure no child has to grieve alone.
Thank you for your support - it means so much!
