Story
This June, I will be joining colleagues from across the insurance industry to take on a significant fundraising challenge in support of Alzheimer’s Society.
We’ll be tackling a demanding three‑day trek of approximately 100km along the Transylvania Trail. It will test us both physically and mentally, but every step will be driven by a shared determination to make a meaningful difference.
For me, this challenge is deeply personal. Dementia is not just a statistic or a distant issue, it is a devastating disease that is currently affecting my family. Watching someone you love change, and witnessing the daily challenges faced by them and those who care for them, brings into sharp focus just how cruel and relentless this illness can be. Dementia impacts not only those diagnosed, but everyone around them, placing emotional, physical and practical strain on families every single day.
I am also taking on this challenge in memory of my much‑loved uncle, who we sadly lost to dementia a few years ago. His loss, and the difficult journey that led up to it, remains close to my heart and is a stark reminder of why this cause matters so much.
There are currently nearly one million people living with dementia in the UK, and this number is expected to rise to 1.6 million by 2040.
Alzheimer’s Society is working tirelessly towards a future where dementia no longer destroys lives, through vital support services, groundbreaking research, and campaigning for change.
Your support truly makes a difference.
Together, we can help end the devastation caused by dementia!
