Story
On Sunday 20th September 2026 I am taking part in the Wokingham Lions Swimathon as part of Team BIBs! I will be part of a small relay team trying to swim as many lengths as we can in a 50 minute slot with the aim of raising as much money as possible for the wonderful charity.
I have cared for many families whose babies have had a tough start to their life and received cared up on Buscot Ward. Whether they’re premature, sick or needing that extra little bit of support to get going, these babies and their families deserve the very best. The emotional toll on parents when they’re separated from their babies is so hard and BIBs helps make things as calm and easy as possible.
It’s a real honour to be part of the fundraising community for this charity and would love it if you could support in anyway you can! 💜
Babies in Buscot Support (BIBS) raise funds to give sick & premature newborns at the RBH the best possible start in life.
The charity is run by parents that have had a baby spend time on Buscot Ward. That is why they care so deeply, and want to make the experience for all babies admitted to Buscot Ward & their families the best it can possibly be.
BIBS work focuses in 4 main areas of activity - keeping Buscot families "SAFE":
Support - providing families with independent emotional support while their baby is on Buscot & beyond.
Awareness - inform parents about what to expect from a stay on Buscot by providing written information & raising awareness of issues related to prematurity or sickness at birth.
Facilities - refurbish facilities & accommodation on the ward to provide a more homely environment.
Equipment - fund state of the art equipment for the ward including incubators, cardiac monitors, ventilators, phototherapy units and much more.
