BIBS supports babies and their families on the neonatal unit, Buscot Ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Funds raised go towards funding life-saving equipment for the babies, providing emotional support for families throughout a baby's stay & in the community, and improving ward facilities.

Story

Babies in Buscot Support (BIBS) raise funds to give sick and premature newborns at the RBH the best possible start in life.

The BIBS Swimathon Relay Team is a dedicated group of supporters coming together to make a real difference for future Buscot babies and their families. Through teamwork, determination and a shared commitment to the cause, they are raising vital funds that help provide essential support, care and opportunities for those who need it most. Every lap they swim brings hope and helps create a brighter future for Buscot families.

Our charity is run by parents that have had a baby spend time on Buscot Ward. We have been there too. That is why we care so deeply, and want to make the experience for all babies admitted to Buscot Ward and their families the best it can possibly be.

BIBS work focuses in four main areas of activity, which we call keeping Buscot families "SAFE":

Support - providing families with independent emotional support while their baby is on Buscot, and beyond.

Awareness - we help inform parents about what to expect from a stay on Buscot by providing written information and we raise awareness of issues related to prematurity or sickness at birth.

Facilities - we refurbish facilities and accommodation on the ward to provide a more homely environment.

Equipment - We fund state of the art equipment for the ward including incubators, cardiac monitors, ventilators, phototherapy units and much more.

In addition we help families by providing gifts to improve their experience especially around key dates such as Christmas or Mothers and Fathers Days.
