Story
Its always difficult to choose a charity but, the Butterwick hospice can only operate with 70% donations so, once I learnt more about the Butterwick, I realised that this was definitely the one I want to raise money for!
My much loved auntie Jenny sadly died recently in the Butterwick hospice and they supported my family through an awful journey. This is an amazing charity who show immense compassion, kindness and comfort in a very, very difficult time.
For 40 years, the Butterwick Hospice has supported local people and communities across our regions of Teesside and County Durham - this is actually their 40th year so, even more special!
They provide holistic care for babies, children and adults living with a life-limited illness, as well as support for their families and loved ones. In the words of our founder, Mary Butterwick OBE,
"This place is all about love. Without the love of the community, it can't exist.”❤️
They provide services completely FREE OF CHARGE to service users and families but, can only survive with donations, incredible support of local businesses and special individuals. Without funding they would not be able to carry out their vital work!
This is going to be a difficult challenge but, my constant thoughts will be with uncle Geoff, Michelle and Micheal and of course, the extremely brave Jenny and that mindset will help me finish this mighty task!
The challenge will be 2.4 open water swim around the Kielder water, then a very hilly, undulating 112 mile bike, then a full 26.2 mile leg testing marathon - this will be done around Kielder forest on June 30th.
