My 190 Challenge for Just Like Us

Helen Whittaker is raising money for Just Like Us
Step up for Pride with a 190 km walk - Why 190? Because young people spend on average 190 days in school - days that can be especially challenging for LGBT+ young people. Join today as a team or individual to show your support - or make a donation.

Story

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity.

Our vision is a world where all LGBT+ young people are able to thrive.

Unfortunately, growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Almost half of young people have received little or no positive messaging about being LGBT+ at school. This results in LGBT+ young people being twice as likely to have been bullied at school compared to their peers, and they are twice as likely to suffer from poor mental health and depression.

Young people spend and average of 190 days in school each year, to help every LGBT+ young person and every school community create a safe and inclusive environment that helps young people to thrive, I'm taking part in the 190 Challenge.

I will be walking 190km to represent the 190 days young people spend in school and raising vital funds to support inclusive education for everyone.
