Over 70% of students at York St John University are from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education. They need our help to be able to access the education they deserve.

Last academic year, we had to turn down 63% of applicants due to a lack of funds. In August 2024, a YSJ team made up of students, staff and alumni ran the York 10k and raised an incredible £1,661 to support our students in need.

This academic year, demand is higher than ever. Although we were able to award 14 scholarships, 4 more than the last, the amount of applicants we have to turn away has increased to 71%.
