Hockley Primary are very excited to be taking part in an amazing community project, ‘Herd in the City’, to support Havens Hospices, who are teaming up with Wild in Art to bring an elephant trail to the city of Southend.

We have ‘adopted’ one of the baby elephants to decorate, and, once completed, this will form part of the art trail and installation.

We have already held a design competition within school to create our elephant’s unique personality and, over the next 8 weeks, we are going to be joined by Main Media to film our elephant’s journey from a blank canvas to a fully decorated masterpiece!

As part of the project we will be holding an ‘Elefund’ Day on Monday 27th March 2023.

Each of the classes will be running 2-3 stalls, where the children will have the opportunity to take part in games and raffles, as well as buy elephant-themed gifts.
