Story
George is an incredible 4 year old little boy who attended Flying Start Day Nursery since just before his first birthday! When George was 20 months old he was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Brain - ATRT( A-Typical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumour)
After a 12 hour brain surgery, a stroke during this surgery, 9 gruelling rounds of chemotherapy and 30 rounds of radiotherapy we received the news that George’s tumour was stable- and is currently stable to this day! Our own real life super hero!
George has now been diagnosed as epileptic and struggles with his mobility however this does not stop the smile on his face. The strength, courage and determination that this little boy shows is enough to inspire anbody. His smile really can light up any room. Therefore, it is now our time to give a little back!
OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity are taking on the Yorkshire Marathon/Yorkshire 10-Mile course to raise money to support children with brain tumours and their families, raise awareness of signs and symptoms of this terrible disease, and fund research into better and kinder treatments.
They have run every year since Oscar Hughes died of a brain tumour aged just 9. The charity that bears his name has helped so many other children in the same situation and the team taking on the run are doing so to help even more.
