Story
I am a Personal Advisor from the Leaving Care team Dorset Council. I support young people with their transition into adulthood. It comes with it's challenges and difficult times, but the most rewarding part is the relationships I build with them. One in particular who I have worked with for almost 5 years. Ollie.
Ollie has made this job a dream! She has always been so grateful for all the support and advice given. She is kind natured, patient and always has a smile on her face, no matter what she is going through.
Ollie has faced a number of health problems from a very early age and has always dealt with them with such resilience and grace.
Most recently Ollie has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her chest, intestines and bowel. This was back in March of this year. Ollie has not left hospital since. Every day seems to bring new challenges for Ollie but she just keeps fighting. Ollie has a beautiful daughter called Harper who is her reason for staying positive and motivated to get better.
Although such a difficult time for Ollie I feel honoured to be her PA and support her however I can. The Teenage Cancer Trust became involved as soon as Ollie was diagnosed. They have visited Ollie in person or been in contact with her on the phone every week since Ollie was diagnosed. They have supported Ollie financially as well as emotionally. Ollie feels very appreciative of their support. Witnessing first-hand the support Ollie received made me want to help the charity and raise money for the work they do.
So I will be running the London Marathon in April 2024. Please support this amazing charity and help them continue doing the work they do :)
