Story
In January 2024, Sue was involved in a freak cycling accident that left her with a shattered tibia and fibula and the start of a long, painful recovery. She spent four months in an external fixator and faced huge physical and emotional challenges. Although she had amazing support from family and friends, it was Day One Trauma Support who truly helped her navigate those early months. Through peer support with someone who had experienced a similar injury, Sue found understanding, reassurance, and hope when she needed it most.

Recovery has been ongoing. It took a year before Sue could walk unaided, and two years on she is still in physiotherapy, rebuilding strength and adapting to lasting changes. Coming to terms with the impact of the accident has been incredibly hard, but Day One continued to support her through trauma-focused workshops and regular check-ins that helped her move toward acceptance and a more hopeful future.
This fundraising ride is a way of giving back to Day One Trauma Support. The money raised will help them continue their vital work supporting others recovering from life-changing trauma. If you’re able to donate, any contribution — big or small — would mean so much. Thank you for your support.
