Story
The Lily Foundation was founded in Lily's memory, having lost her battle to Mitochondrial Disease at just eight months old. The charity aims to give hope, answers and support to the many other children and families that face the challenges of this disease today.
Many years ago, my wife nursed a little girl called Harriet who died of Mitochondrial Disease after many weeks in hosptal. During those weeks Sam spent time getting to know Harriet and her amazing family and in the years following Harriets death our families paths have crossed and we have learnt about the amazing work of the Lily Foundation through the fundraising that they are doing for the foundation.
I have become a very keen runner over the years and I have taken part in several half marathons but have had multiple rejections through the ballot for the London Marathon When my daughter told me that I didn't have many potential years to do London left I decided that I had to do it soon and the match-up with the Lily Foundation seemed a perfect fit. I am looking forward to taking on the challenge and hope I can raise money for such an amazing charity and do everyone proud, not least my own beloved grand-daughter, Lily.
I hope you feel able to support me and the Lily Foundation. I am truly grateful for whatever you can manage. Many thanks,
Shrub
