The Challenge

In February 2025 I’ll be travelling out to Sweden the with around 40 other runners, to compete in Beyond the Ultimate’s ‘Ice Ultra’

The Ice Ultra is a multiday, self-sufficient running event through the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland

In short, it’s a 230km course (the equivalent of over 5 Marathons) in 5 days, carrying all your own equipment & food for the week, and in daytime temperatures ranging from -5°C to -40°C

As with previous events, I'll be hoping to raise funds for Ashgate Hospice.

The Charity

Ashgate Hospice, which is a local hospice based in Chesterfield.

They run a 21-bed inpatient unit and a 16-place day hospice service. They provide palliative and end-of-life care, free of charge to people aged 18 and over.

They care for people with life limiting illness, including cancer, neurological diseases, and end-stage heart, kidney and lung disease.

Each year it costs around £11 million to keep these services available, of which over £7 million needs to be raised purely through voluntary donations and fundraising.

If you’re local to Chesterfield, you’ll almost certainly know someone that’s been helped or cared for by the hospice.
