This summer, I will be volunteering in Rwanda with Azizi Life for a month as part of Team Rwanda 2024, which is funded by the University of Manchester! Collectively, we are fundraising money to help support adult literacy programs for communities within Rwanda.

Azizi Life is a social enterprise based in Rwanda. Azizi Life runs a number of community projects including supporting local artisans to build more sustainable practices and reach wider markets, and supporting adult literacy in the local community.

It costs approximately £16 to teach someone to read and write. In 2023, Azizi Life taught 1200 students with the aim for 2024 being over 2,000 with over 1,000 people signed up for the first 6month course.
