Story

A lot of the men in my family have really rubbish lungs. Mine seem pretty good so far, so I thought I'd drag them a-huffing and a-puffing for 26 miles around London on behalf of those who can't.

I specifically chose to run London Marathon 2024 for Asthma + Lung UK because it will mark 25 years since Hugh Dermot Mohan, also known as Poppa, also known as Derry, also known as my dad's dad, died of having rubbish lungs.

And also because I can get the 202 bus direct from the end of my road to the start line.

You'll probably know that the idea of me running one mile, let alone 26.2, was totally ridiculous until a few years ago. But since 2020, I've done three half marathons, well over 50 parkruns and basically made running my entire personality via my newsletter, Keep It Up Fatty! But a whole marathon is a brand new challenge - and (probably) something I'll only do once, so it would mean a lot if you could bung a few quid my way.

If you sponsor me, you also get to pick a song for my running playlist! Just pop your choice on the sponsor page or bung me a message on some platform or other. I'll use my playlist for training as well as the big day itself, and think of you when your song choice kicks in (I also reserve the right to pad the playlist out with music I actually like...).

Thank you very much for anything you can chip in. You can follow my progress via Keep It Up Fatty! or Instagram.

1 in 5 of us will have a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute.

I'm running The London Marathon 2023 for Asthma + Lung UK. They're the only UK charity that fights for everyones right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
