Story
***EDIT - I finished and I won my class which has amazed me tbh ***
*** EDIT 2 *** I entered a 2nd event this last weekend in Rothbury, Northumberland [a difficult event for me]- Came a Cropper at the Coquet Classic!
However we raised another £30 a day later and it looks like we may make £600 which is phenomenal! I've thanked everyone so far below and on Facebook.
ORIGINAL POST:
I'm racing in the Bolly Skyline ‘Half’ Mountain Bike Enduro in the Peak District to raise money for the Bridge Project, who saved my friend's son's life.
The Bridge Project helps people overcome addiction. Their strap-line is "People can and do recover" — and my friend's son is living proof. In his mum’s words, "...he was addicted to everything, John. He was in a real mess." He was just 17.
Sadly, addiction has touched my own family and friends too. My dad died because of it. Another close friend's son is currently in treatment, and another friend's brother nearly died last week given four days to live.
Addiction doesn't just affect one person. It tears through families and friendships, often leaving permanent damage.
If you can spare a few quid, please help support a charity that really does saves peoples lives and supports families going through extremely difficult times. Thank you.

UPDATE 5/8/26
Bike has had a mini service with a new rear wheel bearing and new pedals as there was a 'knocking'.
I tested the suspension this morning after some tweaks and it's running faster. Am resting for four days now after a training run yesterday as I expect to ride harder than normal at the weekend.
Bike is in good shape and I feel am ready enough!
