Story
On the 9th of August, I’ll be taking on a 24-hour endurance run at Run Sandringham 24 to raise money in memory of my amazing grandad, Bill Boon.
We recently lost Bill — a truly kind, funny, and warm-hearted man — after his battle with VEXAS syndrome, a rare and newly identified autoinflammatory condition that causes severe inflammation, fatigue, and life-limiting complications. His strength and spirit continue to inspire me, and I’m running to honour his life and help others facing similar challenges.
All funds raised will go to RACC (Rare Autoinflammatory Conditions Community), a small but vital charity that supports individuals and families affected by conditions like VEXAS. Because VEXAS was only discovered in recent years, research is still in its early stages — and support for patients is limited and urgently needed.
RACC’s work includes:
• Funding research into rare autoinflammatory diseases
• Supporting patients and families through diagnosis and beyond
• Raising awareness among doctors and the wider public
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Your support will help carry on Bill’s memory and bring hope to others still searching for answers.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
