The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

Last January, at the age of 51 and without any prior symptoms, our Sales Director, Dan Jewell, experienced a seizure while driving his daughter to school. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the cause of the seizure was later diagnosed as glioblastoma, a grade four brain tumour with a poor prognosis and no cure. Glioblastoma is the most aggressive and common malignant brain tumour in adults, with over 3,000 new diagnoses in the UK each year. However, only about 1% of cancer research funding has focused on brain tumours in recent years.

In April, Dan had surgery to remove the tumour, and it was caught early before it spread too far. His subsequent treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, at the Royal Marsden has been successful in keeping his condition stable. Dan feels incredibly lucky to have had the support of the Royal Marsden and The Brain Tumour Charity, who have been outstanding in providing information and assistance to him and his family. Although Dan’s treatment has finished for now, we know that Dan, and many others, will rely on both institutions in the future.

Dan’s colleagues at Triple Point are inspired to give back to the charities that have played a crucial role in his journey, leading to the creation of Challenge51. This initiative aims to raise £153,000 for these vital organisations through a series of exciting fundraising events, including a walk through London, the Three Peaks Challenge, a bike ride from London to Brighton, and a pub quiz.
