In Memory of Phoebe - London Marathon 2024

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
I am raising money for The Lily Foundation in honour of my beautiful niece Phoebe who sadly passed away in May 2023 from mitochondrial disease.
Phoebe was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease in September 2022 at the age of 10 months old. Mitochondrial disease is a genetic condition that affects how mitochondria in your cells produce energy. Mitochondria produce most of the energy your body needs and with mitochondrial disease your cells aren't able to produce enough energy. Due to the disease Phoebe progressively lost her mental and movement abilities.
The Lily Foundation is the UK's leading mitochondrial disease charity and the largest charitable funder of mitochondrial research in Europe. Their mission is to improve the lives of people affected by mitochondrial diseases, while working towards a future where mitochondrial diseases can be effectively treated or cured.
The passing of Phoebe at just 17.5 months old to this cruel disease has been extremely troubling for my family and therefore raising money for The Lily Foundation is a small way in which myself and my family can repay the incredible support this amazing charity have provided. Together we can ensure this unimaginable loss does not happen to anyone else.
