Snowdon challenge for Elgon Empowerment

Jake Cesareo is raising money for Elgon Empowerment
At least 500 million women and girls globally lack access to the facilities they need to manage their periods. We're committed to changing that. Support us by donating, or joining our 2025 '80km for Elgon' Fundraiser - all are welcome!

Story

I'm Jake, founder of Elgon Empowerment. It feels like yesterday I was sitting in a box room in my uni halls thinking about how to support my pals in Uganda. Fast forward 6 years and that distant dream has become a very real registered charity with a community of experts and volunteers delivering outstanding empowerment work.

This September a big group of Fundraisers and I are tackling Mount Snowdon to raise money for the crucial women's and social empowerment work we support.

Just £5 can fund reusable sanitary products that will keep a girl in rural Uganda in school for 2 years. We can do so much good with so little.

Donate a few quid if you can or join us up Snowdon and take a stand against period poverty - all are welcome.

What we at Elgon Empowerment do:

More than half of girls who start school in Uganda, drop out - largely because they cannot have their periods in safety.

It's not periods that stop girls going to school, it's the lack of access to sanitary products, the lack of of knowledge of menstrual health and access to support and facilities. We can use the privilege afforded to us by being from the UK to help awe-inspiring local leaders with such challenges.

We facilitate Women's workshops, teaching about women's reproductive health and provide thousands of reusable sanitary products. We're able to do this because of you - crowdfunding our way to more empowered communities! Run solely by volunteers and driven by the priorities of our local partners.

My fundraising:

This September the team are challenging ourselves to run, swim, cycle or waddle 80km in aid of Elgon Empowerment's women's and social empowerment work.

Your support make's the world of difference.
