The Ugandan village of Mutoto sits on the lush slopes of Mount Elgon, and is the first community we began work with in 2019. True to our origin, and our charity name, our fundraising challenge this year is to travel a distance equivalent to the diameter of Mount Elgon; 80 kilometres.
Where your money goes
In 2025, Elgon Empowerment will be continuing to support our partnered communities in their social empowerment and empowerment of women and girls living in poverty.
By working with local leaders in rural Uganda, donations will be spent providing sewing machines, materials and comprehensive training for women, enabling them to produce their own reusable sanitary products and supply their communities.
This project empowers women and girls with knowledge, with skills and opportunity, but also helps foster economic independence. Through this work, we aim to create a sustainable, self-sufficient model that supplies localities with sanitary products, empowers women, and improves the overall well-being of their communities.
