Story
Firstly, a massive thank you for coming by to sponsor me. Great Ormond Street is a hospital close to my heart and it's a fantastic charity that I am extremely proud of raising money for.
This year, I set aside a whole year of fundraising challenges in aid of raising as much money and awareness for GOSH as possible. To help me do this, I asked my good friend Will to tag along.
We are both dads with personal experiences of the fantastic work that GOSH provide. Approximately 10 years ago, my son, Alexander was taken to Great Ormond Street Hospital due to concerns around his kidneys. He remained an out patient for several years before being discharged with the all clear. During his time there, the staff and team at GOSH provided non stop support and reassurance throughout. It's something I will never forget and I am honoured to be giving back just a little of what I feel is a lifetime that I owe.
Will has his own story on his page (go read) and together we just want to give back as much as possible.
Now to mention the challenges already complete. My God, have we challenged ourselves. We are not athletes or daily runners of good ability. We are quite simply two dads who want to give back and will push ourselves to the very limit.
- Challenge 1 was by comparison an easy challenge. Norwich 10k run.
- Challenge 2 Norfolk Coastal Challenge - (90 miles in 24 hours) wow… need we say more. The support we received was outstanding. From friends and family supporting us along the way and to the hundreds that donated and helped push our total to over a massive £3,500. The TV crews, radio presenters and newspaper journalists all combining to make this a truely memorable experience.
- Challenge 3 200 Nuggets in 30 minutes - It sounds easy but my god was this not. Our first TikTok live challenge shared by almost 200 people at its peak. Nuggets were eaten, fun was had. Not by us. Haven't touched nuggets since.
- Challenge 4 10km everyday for a month - oh the pain. When we thought we were just getting over the trauma of Challenge 2. This comes along. Although it doesn't seem like much to regular runners and athletes. Regular runners and athletes we are not.
- Challenge 5 Food Blender Challenge - hosted by our good friend and supporter of the campaign, Teacher TommyT, we are blindfolded and choose foods at random to be blended up to drink. A TikTok Live extravaganza viewed by over 300 people in its peak.
Now over to a personal challenge set just for me. 10 years after I completed it for the first time. On 27th April 2025, I will be running the London Marathon. I am extremely honoured to have the opportunity to run this amazing event and to do it with a GOSH vest on is brilliant. I have a total of £2,000 that I need to raise so thank you for everyone who has donated so far!
If you would like to watch any of the challenges so far or keep up to date with my marathon training. Head over to Instagram or tiktok and follow along.
Thanks again!!
