Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be running in the London Marathon on 26th April 2026, raising money for an amazing and very important charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital. I am excited to take on the challenge of which will be my first marathon.

On 25th September 2019, our son Elijah was born by planned induced birth. Earlier scans had detected problems with his heart and we were told it was likely he would need lifesaving surgery soon after birth. Shortly after birth, he underwent an echocardiogram which confirmed the diagnosis being coarctation of the aorta and ventricular septal defects with additional large patent ductus arteriosus.

Elijah was being cared for at the neonatal unit, before being transferred to the Bear Ward at GOSH. At 2 days old he was prepared for surgery. Following the operation, Elijah returned to the cardiac intensive care unit and although there were 24 hour post-surgery problems, he recovered well. The whole experience was such a traumatic time for all the family but in time our brave little boy recovered.

We are so grateful to GOSH and everyone involved for what they did for Elijah, but also for all the support that was provided to me and my family at such a difficult time. The doctors, nurses and all the staff are incredible and being given the opportunity to represent GOSH by running the London Marathon means so much to me. I want to say thank you to GOSH for everything they do for so many sick children but also for all the care and support they provide families.

I would really appreciate your support! Please help by sponsoring me and I will do the hard bit and run the 26.2 miles on Sunday 26th April 2026. The training is not going to be easy, but I am ready and focused to do this, giving something back to such a worthy cause.

Elijah is now 6 years old and although he has regular check-ups, the operation was a success and he can live a normal life, all thanks to GOSH. They saved our boy’s life.
