Story
Last January, my dear colleague and friend Dan Jewell (DJ) was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a grade four brain tumour.
Glioblastoma is the most aggressive and common malignant brain tumour in adults, with over 3,000 new diagnoses in the UK each year. Despite its prevalence, only around 1% of cancer research funding has been dedicated to brain tumours in recent years.
In support of DJ and to help raise awareness, I will be taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge on 7 June 2025 - attempting to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24hrs.
This personal challenge is part of a larger Triple Point fundraising effort to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, The Brain Tumour Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. Colleagues are also participating in various activities, such as cycling from London to Brighton and walking 51,000 steps across London.
Many thanks for considering. For my part, I assure you the Three Peaks won’t be a picnic and I will be thinking of you all at 2am as we start our final ascent of Snowden (having conquered Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike earlier in the day).
Every and any little bit helps / the sooner we can change the odds the better.
