I'm James, and I'm gearing up to take on the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2024! My goal is to raise £2,000 for the remarkable charity, VersusArthritis. My inspiration? None other than my extraordinary Mum, Rhona, who, despite her battle with rheumatoid arthritis, embodies true strength and fabulousness.

Arthritis affects approximately 10 million people in the UK, with 400,000 individuals living with rheumatoid arthritis, including my Mum.

I was just 10 years old when my Mum received her diagnosis, and it wasn't until I became an adult that I truly grasped the impact it had on her life. In a way, this stands as a testament to her strength. Despite the challenges of living with arthritis, she has never stopped being an incredibly supportive and generous Mum to me and my little sister. While my Mum's personal resilience is awe-inspiring, I've also witnessed the daily physical, mental, and emotional toll arthritis has taken on her wellbeing. This is why I'm dedicating my run in aid of Versus Arthritis.

Versus Arthritis is an incredible charity that provides vital support for people with arthritis across the UK, facilating world-class research to discover breakthrough treatments. Every contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to me and will go a long way in helping Versus Arthritis work towards a future free from arthritis.
