Story
Jamie land, Kevin land, Mick Land, Shaun Davey, Ollie main, Paul ware, Nick bond, Ben bond, Aaron Rapo, Ian Yeo, Dominic bealey plus few others are taking part in Men’s Walk on 7 March 2026 because unfortunately we lost Simon land (Son, brother and great friend)due to cancer on 3rd Feb 2025.
This year is going to be a lot more difficult for everyone involved due to it being just over a year since his passing, so going to be a lot more emotionally and mentally challenging but be great for us all share are stories and memories of Simon so they are never forgotten, as all know what a great character he was. Also we have decided to carry around a few electrical tool boxes to give us an extra challenge.
Simon was never one to shy away from his illness and was open, honest and mostly determined to try beat it. We have chosen this walk, to hopefully get more men talking as Simon did and the importance of getting things check out early. Hospice was Simon’s chosen charity hopefully many of you won’t ever have to deal with them but they were there for Simon and his family during one of life’s most difficult journeys. They gave great understanding and support during the last few weeks of his life which enabled him to have some extra precious time with his family, friends and most importantly his wife and kids. So we all would like to try and give something back to them.
Hospiscare is a local charity, caring for terminally ill people and their families across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. Their teams of doctors and nurses offer free, expert palliative and end-of-life care in the community and at Searle House hospice in Exeter. Over the years, they’ve comforted and cared for thousands of people in our community, enabling them to live life to the fullest.
Men’s Walk is about more than a 7-mile walk; it’s about providing local people with a voice, with dignity, with care and compassion.
Something we’d all want.
So please, if you can, make a donation today and help make a difference!
